September 2011
Dear Eagle Family,
The fall season has begun…and already we have had some memorable games/matches with our volleyball team having knocked off both Washington State and Boise State in five. Any time a Big Sky team can secure a win over Pac-12 and Mountain West schools, it bodes very well for your program. Meanwhile, our soccer team has started the season with four narrow defeats but there is cause for optimism as many first-year players are earning their stripes prior to the Big Sky season.
Finally, as Hank Williams Jr., often sings…are you ready for some football?? Our defending Division I national champs have received numerous preseason accolades including the number #1 ranking in the country in FCS football (the first time ever in school history). But all of the preseason “chatter” can be put in the rearview mirror as the season kicks off at Husky Stadium against UW on September 3rd. With so many of our team from the state of Washington and the Westside (including many members of our coaching staff) – this should be a tremendous opportunity for our team to play the state’s flagship University. Obviously, we will be the underdog, but as I have often said, when playing a BCS school – it is not a best of seven…it is a 60 minute contest – so you never know.
In addition, our men’s and women’s cross country teams kick off the season as well…for a preview of the team – please see the link below…
