| Bill Chaves was named as Eastern Washington University's Athletic Director on August 17, 2007. Chaves becomes Eastern's 13th athletics director in the last 40 years, including the ninth since Eastern became a member of NCAA Division I in the 1983-84 school year and a member of the Big Sky Conference in 1987-88. |
June 2011 Dear Eagle Family, Fresh off our annual awards celebration (The EeeWoos) – congratulations goes out to all of our winners (link below)… http://www.goeags.com/genrel/releases/11genathThirdAnnualEeeWooWinners In addition, major kudos go out to Davin Perry who has been the mastermind behind this event. Davin is completing his fourth year on our athletic staff and has basically been responsible for everything multi-media during his tenure. Unfortunately for us, this will be Davin’s last “rodeo” as he is going on to “bigger and better” things . . . actually, he is going on to study graduate level film production at Loyola Marymount. There is no doubt that we will be watching his films some day – or seeing him in front of the camera…he is that talented. We could not be more proud of Davin’s accomplishments within the department and wish him the very best in all of his future endeavors. EAA FUND DRIVE - We celebrated our annual EAA Fund Drive recently as well. Co-chairs, Sam Anderson and Brendan Genther, did a tremendous job this year in leading the charge. This year’s drive was the best in many years and will give us great momentum going into the summer to attract even more great people into our Eagle family. CONGRATULATIONS I – To Track and Field standouts Erica Chaney and Michael Okoro who were named our department’s June Scholar-Athletes of the Month. CONGRATULATIONS I I – To the track and field program itself as it attained its highest cumulative finish in the Big Sky outdoors meet ever!!
