Dear Eagle Family,
Happy New Year and welcome to a new decade…where did the 00’s go? We are about to embark into two full months of Big Sky basketball with both our men’s and women’s teams looking to get back into the conference tournaments in March. Both programs have not participated in the conference championship since the 2005-06 season, so needless to write, we are all anxious for that to occur again.
Both teams have had some ups and downs thus far this season but knowing how razor thin the difference between making the conference tournament and not is – we hope that all of our home games at Reese Court will be jam-packed with our enthusiastic Eagle fans. Our ticket office has been busy putting together different ticket packages that might interest you so I encourage each of you to take a look and find one that best fits your needs - please see this link...

Operation 1K
Thank you to everyone that supported our push for 1,000 EAA members over the past month - we are not quite there yet but we will rekindle this initiative during the 2010 EAA fund drive which is just around the corner.
Our condolences
To the Maurstad family on the recent passing of Eagle family member, Dick. Dick was one of EWU’s “100 for 100” Football Players from fall 2008.
Dick lettered at Eastern from 1936-39 and earned his spot on the "100 for 100" team by being a member of the all-star team hand-picked by legendary Hall of Fame coach William "Red" Reese in 1947. Maurstad played on Eastern teams that were a collective 24-7-1. In 1936, Eastern finished 7-1 and won the Tri-Normal School Association with victories over Central Washington (12-6) and Western Washington (6-0). They repeated that title by finishing 6-1 in 1937 and again registering victories over Central (18-0) and Western (13-6). Eastern joined the Washington Intercollegiate Conference the following season and finished 2-1 in the league and 6-2-1 overall. As a senior in 1939, Eastern won the title with a 2-1 record and 5-3 mark overall. He received his bachelor's degree from Eastern in 1940.
Best Wishes and Go Eagles!!!
