Dear Eagle Family,

What a tremendous time of year!  As we head directly into the Holiday Season – please let me be the first to convey our sincere appreciation for all that you do and continue to do for us at Eastern.  Please know that your generosity does not go unnoticed!!

BEST START SINCE ’08 - Congratulations to Coach Hayford and the men’s basketball team for their 3-2 start – the best five game beginning to a season since the 2008-09 season.  There is still plenty of opportunity to purchase season tickets, as the bulk of our home season lies ahead . . . I would encourage all of you to get in on the ground floor of the “Hayford Era”!

CONGRATULATIONS -  To Bo Levi Mitchell who was named Big Sky Offensive Player of the Year – what a tremendous two-year run for Bo. With this award now in tow and given his tremendous numbers this year, my hope is that our program might have our second Walter Payton Award winner . . . we shall see.

VOLLEYBALL – It was great to see our volleyball team back in the Big Sky Tournament after an atypical year last year -- our team fought hard against top-seeded UNC but came up just short . With many faces returning – ’12 should be an exciting year.

FOOTBALL RECAP – It was a great finish by our team to win six of our final seven games – unfortunately, we came up just short in making the FCS Playoffs.  Much like the volleyball team, 2012 should be another action packed season for all Eagle fans. 

THREE SELLOUTS – With three sellouts in football this year (out of four home games), I would encourage anyone that is interested in seeing us play next year to purchase season tickets. We have five home games – including Montana – so place your order now!!

CONDOLENCES – Many of you have known both Noreen and Frank Groh for over 20 years and recently Frank passed away. There is no doubt that we will all miss Frank tremendously, but just having known Frank has made us all better people. Frank’s funeral service took place on Nov. 29 and his obituary is below:

Passed away November 25, 2011 in Odessa, WA. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Noreen Groh at the home and one sister Kathy and Bryan Holjeson of Harrington, WA. Three nieces Cindy and (Manny) Hemmerling; Shawn and (Todd) Claypool; Roberta and (Steve) Telecky, two nephews Greg and( Kim) Buchmann and Scott and( Kris) Buchmann. Several grand nieces and nephews Ryan, Lacie, Ashley, Russell, Kyle, Joe, Brett, Ty, Travis and Ashley along with sister in law Margie Schell of Odessa, WA. Preceded in death by his parents Frank and Pauline Groh. He is a 1946 Odessa High School Graduate. Member of the Heritage Church, Eastern Eagles Athletic Association and past booster of the year for Eastern Athletics, past Odessa Lions Club and Odessa Grange. Funeral Services, Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Heritage Church, Odessa, WA with Pastor Jon Hayashi, officiating. Memorials may be made to the Odessa Healthcare Foundation, Eastern Eagles Athletic Association or the Heritage Church. Mr. Groh will lie-in-state at the Heritage Church on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 20011 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with vault interment at the Odessa Cemetery, Odessa, WA.
