August 2011
Dear Eagle Family,
It is August 2nd and we are only about a week away from welcoming back student-athletes for the upcoming fall campaigns. In addition to our football team, which has received many preseason accolades (see link), we are also looking forward to successful volleyball, soccer and cross country seasons.

2011 HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES –Congratulations to our newest induction class who were recently announced…with research assistance from our long-time SID, Dave Cook, an external committee outside of the athletic department does a tremendous job with this responsibility annually – kudos to all those who will be honored on October 1st.

FOOTBALL SEASON TICKETS– If you have not already purchased season tickets, I would recommend doing so soon. Many new people have jumped on the wagon and while there is room for more, I want to make sure that you do not miss your chance. Season tickets are $130 for a family pack of 5, and adult prices are $60-$90, depending on location. Buy your tickets right now online:

Print-at-home tickets - With Ticketswest, we are adding a print-at-home feature for people who purchase single-game tickets online. This allows you to save ticket print fees and side-step the need to go up to will call by getting your ticket at home to scan at the game.
RV TAILGATE SPOTS – The upper lot behind Roos is filling up for the 2011 season. We already have over half of the lot filled with season passes. At only $100 for all 4 home games, they are very affordable (single game is $35). You get a 2 x 2 parking stall for one vehicle, you can stay overnight on Friday and Saturday night, and are allowed to use propane fire pits. The upper lot SOLD OUT three times during the 2010 season before 7 a.m. on game day. Ensure your spot in one of the most exciting tailgate atmospheres in the area. FACILITY UPGRADES – Many supporters have asked me about various projects that we are working on. Currently, we have several, thanks to a combination of funding sources to help make them happen:
- Reese Court locker room project – This has been something that our department has had high on the list for many years for gender equity reasons and fortunately this is the biennium in which it will take place . In fact, the project is currently underway and is slated to be finished by January. This will positively affect volleyball, women’s basketball, soccer, golf, and both tennis programs.
- Reese Court seating project – We will be extracting the current “team bench side” bleachers, splitting them and re-installing them on the baselines. We will then install new collapsible seating on the “team bench side.” There are a couple different phases to this project and we are working through the logistics with our facilities department.
- We are also doing a number of “minor” projects at Roos, some of which include: The lower concession stand being painted and re-roofed; the upper portable ticket booths replaced with newer, nicer and more functional units; more wind screening around the fencing of the stadium; and speakers installed on the exterior of the Donor Suites and Media Center so that Larry Weir and Paul Sorensen can be heard throughout the upper concourse. And, finally, on game day there will be a new Coors Light Touchdown Club on the scoreboard side of the end zone. This will serve as our “club” area and in my opinion will become very popular. If you are interested in more details, please call our ticket office at 509-359-6059.
Until next month…
Best,
