| Bill Chaves was named as Eastern Washington University's Athletic Director on August 17, 2007. Chaves becomes Eastern's 13th athletics director in the last 40 years, including the ninth since Eastern became a member of NCAA Division I in the 1983-84 school year and a member of the Big Sky Conference in 1987-88. |
September 2012 Dear Eagle Family, Welcome to autumn!! What a terrific way to start the academic year – with a 20-3 road win at Idaho. Kudos to Coach Baldwin, his staff and, of course, our talented student-athletes for upsetting a FBS opponent for the first time since 2003. The victory over the Vandals vaulted us to No. 9 in the country in the latest FCS Sports Network national poll. In addition, there was a very good article (and photo of Brandon Kaufman) on the four teams which upset FBS schools this past weekend…below is the link. Which now leads us to something that has not occurred in 104 years!! – Eastern playing Washington State in football. With a good portion of our roster being from the state of Washington, I know our team is very excited to play at Martin Stadium. I mentioned this last month but I cannot reiterate this strong enough….Get your tickets!!! Football single game tickets went on sale on Sept. 5. The best way to purchase them is by going online at either www.goeags.com or www.ticketswest.com. In addition, our volleyball, soccer and cross country teams have also started and we look forward to seeing you at one of our many home events beginning this month. Finally, our men’s basketball team will be travelling to Canada to take advantage of an opportunity to take a foreign trip once every four years.
